New Laws Take Effect
Posted by Aaron Freeman - July 1, 2020
Wednesday, July 1 marks the day in which new laws passed by the Indiana General Assembly take effect. We passed some good legislation to make our state safer, better, and stronger moving forward.
There are some big changes moving forward, including banning the use of cellular devices while driving and decoupling test scores from teacher evaluations. SB 39, a bill that I authored, also goes into effect. It allows for our courts to have more discretion in granting specialized driving privileges to Hoosiers with suspended licenses so that they are not further encumbered.
I look forward to bringing more common-sense legislation to the State House in 2021 and am grateful to have your support. You can review all the bills we passed this year HERE.
